For the past 30+ years, Joy has been either playing, parenting a player, coaching, or supporting the growth of Ultimate. Her earliest memory of throwing a Frisbee® was as a jet-lagged teenager on a high school trip to Spain. She started playing Ultimate with the E-Men at Tufts University in the late 1980s (pre-EWO) and was hooked. She continued playing through the turn-of-the-century on various Spring, Summer, and Fall league teams before joining 12 Fluid Ounces, a Boston-area corporate league team. After a 10-year hiatus to start a family, followed by numerous injuries playing in pick-up and Masters League games, Joy turned to coaching and program development instead. She attributes her deep love of the sport to both WUDI & BUDA Summer Leagues and all the talented Ultimate players who shared their skills and spirit. She currently manages & coaches the Arlington Middle School Ultimate Program.

Joy is originally from Harrison, NY and now lives near Boston, MA with her husband and three sons. In addition to Ultimate, she enJOYs many activities that seem to include the letter “K” – Biking, hiking, kayaking, skating, skiing, hockey, knitting, taking pictures, baking, and relaxing in her hammock.
