Irwin got hooked on ultimate and began playing on the east coast for 3 years before relocating to the west coast where he played another 15 years. His fondest memories of those years where playing with and against some of the greatest players and teams of the 80’s and early to mid 90’s. He has many wonderful friendships that have endured from those early years. Through his joyful and friendly nature, respect of the SOTG, and competitive spirit he had the good fortune to be able to play with a number of highly competitive teams during his playing career. Some of his favorite highlights include going on the Japan coaching tour in 1990, and winning Masters Championships at Nationals (Beyondors) and Worlds (Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove – on his birthday!!) in 1993. Over the past 25+ years he has been living in a small mountain town in Idaho and replaced his ultimate addiction with the likes of ice hockey, snow sports, cycling, hiking and playing guitar in a local band.
