Joanie started playing Ultimate her senior year at UC Santa Barbara through their intramural program after many years participating in the traditional team sport realm. She fell in love with Ultimate and this new concept called “Spirit of the Game”. She joined the Women Condors in 1982 and helped the team win 5 national championships and 3 world titles. She is high school teacher in Santa Barbara and is married with two children.
