Mike Leonard, an long time Emmy-winning features correspondent for NBC, recently put together a look at Ultimate Peace for the latest episode of his new show on PBS, inCommon.  The piece was made in conjunction with The Telling Well, an organization Mike helped found that aims to tell “compelling stories starring common people – of uncommon character.”

A film crew visited Camp Ultimate Peace during the 2014 session, interviewing campers, CITs, coaches, and directors.  They filmed meal time, practice time,  games, and the general atmosphere of the camp.   What Mike and his team put together turned out beautifully and expresses very well how participants and leaders within UP feel about the work going on.  Our young leaders, especially, are able to put difficult and complex issues in easy to relate ways;  and they are doing this in their second or third language.

Currently, the episode is being broadcast on the Chicago PBS affiliate (check their website for showtimes) and it is scheduled to go national in May.  It can also be seen in it’s entirety on The Telling Well‘s website, and for your convenience it is also embedded below.  The section on Ultimate Peace begins at the 9:28 mark, but the entire episode is interesting and well done.
