Ultimate is more than just a game to me. It has shaped a good part of who I am over the last 2 decades. I began playing with frisbees over 20 years ago at the University of Pennsylvania, and since then, I have played all over the country in many different realms. From top level club to local mixed leagues, pick-up games to high level tournaments, women’s, men’s, and co-ed, outdoor and indoor, sand, grass, turf, concrete, dirt—I have just about played everywhere with a disc. Getting involved with youth ultimate–coaching high school kids, organizing tournaments, sitting on the PHUEL(Philadelphia High School Education League) Board, and helping out with middle school camp–has taken my love for the sport to a whole new level for the past 8 years. Giving back to a sport that has given so much to me and teaching a whole new generation to love it too is incredibly rewarding. Ultimate Peace allows me to add another layer of passion for this sport, for its ability to bring people together, its ability to inspire, and its ability to instill hope. For this, I am “ultimately” humbled and grateful.
