Camp 2015 Player Registration

Camp 2015 Player Registration
May 5, 2015 Leave a comment

Ultimate Peace is happy to announce the opening of player registration for our 2015 Camp!

Camp UP is a unique experience for youth from across the region to come together at a five day residential camp to learn and play ultimate and to meet knew and interesting people.  Players are divided into two camps, one for returning more experienced players and one for younger, newer players.  Both groups will run at the same time this summer, and will have similar but different schedules.

We are returning for the second year to Kfar Silver, a boarding school just outside of Ashkalon about 45 minutes south of Tel Aviv along the coast.  With the school in the middle of their summer break, Ultimate Peace has the run of the campus, including an onsite swimming pool, dormitories, an auditorium, a dining hall, a full sized playing field, and lots of open grass and shade trees.

The coaching staff this year is once again a large group representing a wide variety of backgrounds.  Coaches at camp this summer will represent a handful of countries, range in age from youthful to youthful at heart, and in experience from first timers to UP veterans.  Our staff includes coaches who have played and coached at the highest levels as well as coaches who are still learning the sport.  We are most proud of our older players who are returning to camp as staff this summer.

Registration will be open through May 23rd, with a late period for the following two weeks that includes a slightly higher fee.  Players who want to register for camp should download the form from this website, have their parents sign it, and bring it with the payment to their coach at their weekly practice.

It’s going to be a great summer, and we want you to be a part of it!

Train Stations, Beaches, and Connections

It was early in the morning and I was at the train station in Acco, about to undertake the nearly 24-hour journey back to Chicago. A moment occurred – a moment like any other, but at the same time it proved to be so much more. It was a moment of eye contact – of mutual understanding between a local stranger and myself and it seemed to me to culminate what had been a several month whirlwind. I had spent the spring studying in London and traveled throughout the Czech Republic with my aunt for a couple weeks before arriving in Tel-Aviv and making my way to a friend’s apartment at 3:00 in the morning.
