Doug began playing Ultimate as a 10th grader in the spring of 1978. His first year playing with the Santa Barbara Condors was in 1980 and he continued playing with them until 1992. He won National Championships in 1981 with the Condors, 1988 and 1989 with UCSB’s Black Tide and again with the Beyondors in 1993. He also won a World Championship with the Beyondors in 1997. His disc prowess is not limited to Ultimate. In 2004 he won a Disc Golf World Championship. He moved to Portland Oregon in 1992 to start a family and a career as a Middle School Teacher. He has worked in the same middle school for 25 years. Looking back on his Ultimate experiences, it is not the winning or losing that he remembers and values, its the people. The life long relationships he built have provided him with joy and a confidence to go out in the world and make a difference. He sees Ultimate Peace as a way to give back to the sport that has given him so much.
