Sarah was a large part of our UP family during her time in the Middle East both at camp and during year round programming. Sadly, Sarah passed away in March, 2014. While she will be missed, the impact of her time with UP will continue to be felt for many years to come.
Sarah VanWagenen started playing ultimate in 2006 in Los Angeles, CA. Taking naturally to the game, she was invited to play on the reigning champion team in the Los Angeles Ultimate League after only one hat league season. She has since played for the LA based competitive mixed club teams Metro and 7 Figures, both of whom went to the USA National Club Championships. She was awarded the Best Female Player in Los Angeles in 2008. Most recently, she played for the United States Mixed Masters National Team at the World Championship of Beach Ultimate in Italy, winning a silver medal. A fiercely competitive athlete, she is also wholly committed to ultimate’s Spirit of the Game and is thrilled to be bringing her love of the game to the youth of Israel and Palestine.
